Esta es nuestra oportunidad para borrar la ignominia que se ha hecho con nosotros desde 1948... Nuestro objetivo es limpiar  borrar a Israel del mapa. </span></font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Los quince marcaron un punto crucial en mi vida.&nbsp; Unos pocos meses después de la brutal derrota por parte de Israel de aquellas fuerzas que intentaban llevar a cabo (una vez más) la liquidación de los Judíos, me vinculé por primera vez a una escuela Judía diurna.&nbsp; Mis ideas acerca de ser un Judío en el mundo, acerca de la historia y de cómo ella afecta nuestras vidas, acerca del Holocausto y de la cadena de la vida Judía, empezaron a tomar forma adulta.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">***</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Mi conciencia sobre la vida de mis padres empieza, en cierto sentido, con el final de la guerra: sus cuatro o cinco años como personas desplazadas en la Alemania de la post-guerra, su largo viaje a Australia como una pareja joven sin inglés, sin habilidades comerciables y sin raíces más allá de sus pocos lazos personales y su muy sentido Judío de comunidad.</span></p> <p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align: left; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Tengo una prima, miembro de un kibbutz.&nbsp; Ella es hija del hermano mayor de mi padre.&nbsp; Nació en Tel Aviv en la década de los 30, poco después de que sus padres huyeron antes de la guerra en Polonia.&nbsp; Regresando como turista a las raíces de sus padres, viajó a la ciudad de Cracovia en el año 2000 y, a través de una serie de circunstancias obtuvo cuatro páginas fotocopiadas que compartió conmigo.&nbsp; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">La primera página había sido llenada con la inconfundible letra de mi padre,&nbsp; alma bendita.&nbsp; Una pequeña instantánea pegada al formulario lo mostraba a él como nunca antes lo había visto: viril, atractivo, joven.&nbsp; Otras dos páginas eran los formularios de censo de dos de las hermanas de mi padre.&nbsp; Yo sabía sus nombres por un árbol familiar que había armado años antes con la ayuda de mi padre, pero que hasta ese momento no eran más que nombres.&nbsp; Ahora yo miraba fijamente los retratos de dos jóvenes mujeres vibrantes y atractivas.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Mi hija mayor, Malki, acababa de completar un proyecto sobre raíces familiares en el colegio y yo sabía que a ella le interesaría.&nbsp; Ella echó una mirada a las páginas y dijo exactamente lo que yo había estado pensando: que ella tenía un parecido sorprendente con la bella hermana de mi padre, Feige.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Algunos meses después de que echamos una mirada a esas extraordinarias fotografías por primera vez, Malki se sentó y en silencio compuso la letra y la música de una canción de con un fuerte contenido:  Tu vives, respiras y te mueves  ¡eso es un gran comienzo!... ¡Más te vale que empieces a bailar ahora! </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Vivir en la tierra prometida al pueblo Judío fue fuente de profunda alegría para esta nieta de sobrevivientes del Holocausto.&nbsp; El descubrimiento de la foto de Feige permitió a Malki, creo yo, lograr un sentido fortalecido de su papel personal como eslabón en una antigua cadena.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial">***</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">La Intifada de Arafat contra la población civil de Israel estalló para la época en que recibimos esas preciosas páginas.&nbsp; Del diario que ella llevaba, es evidente deducir que la baja casi diaria de heridas y muertes cargaba con fuerza la mente de Malki.&nbsp; En una ocasión escribió que tuvo que dejar su salón de clase para llorar en privado al saber de otro ataque terrorista... y otro más y otro más.&nbsp; Nosotros, sus padres y hermanos, no éramos conscientes de lo profundo de su empatía por las víctimas de la guerra que arrebataba su preciosa tierra.&nbsp; El disturbio y el dolor eran profundamente personales para ella.&nbsp; A pesar de haber nacido en Australia, Malki había vivido en Jerusalén desde que tenía dos años.&nbsp; Ella se sentía conectada del todo con la historia Judía.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">En Agosto del 2001, mi hija y su amiga Michal interrumpieron las actividades de un día muy ocupado de sus vacaciones de verano para almorzar en un concurrido restaurante de Jerusalén llamado Sbarro.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Si ella hubiera notado al hombre con un estuche de guitarra en su espalda pasando a zancadas a través de la puerta sin vigilancia y poniéndose al lado del mostrador en donde ella estaba absorta tecleando un mensaje de texto en su teléfono celular, ¿Acaso habría reconocido al aborrecimiento y al éxtasis barbárico, en la cara del hombre antes de que él explotara?</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 4.0pt"> <span lang="ES" style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Michal y Malki fueron enterradas al día siguiente.&nbsp; Las más cercanas amigas desde la infancia, yacen para siempre una al lado de la otra en una colina cerca de la entrada a Jerusalén.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0;
