Horeb Girls School Now Has a Sefer Torah Written in Honor of Malki

The classmates and friends of Malki at Jerusalem's Chana Weingarten Ulpana Toranit (better known as Horeb Girls School) began a project in Malki's memory on the first anniversary of her murder.

The goal of the project was to endow a Sefer Torah in Malki's memory, and to present this to the school just before Shavuot of 2003.

The writing of the Sefer Torah commenced in the first week of this school year with a ceremony in which Arnold Roth, and Malki's three older brothers wrote the first letters of the first lines of the Torah under the guidance of the scribe who is writing the entire Sefer.

And just as planned, the Sefer was completed and then presented to the school in a moving ceremony on 4th June 2003. (Pictures of this beautiful event are here.)

The costs of the writing, however, have still not been entirely covered (as of August 2004) and help is needed from generous benefactors who are willing to participate in this mitzvah. If you are able to play a role in this worthy initiative, please send your cheque to: The Society for the Promotion of Jewish Education, Attention: Sefer Torah in Memory of Malka Chana Roth, C/o Mr Gideon Feigenbaum, 44 Bennett Avenue, New York NY 10033. Cheques made payable to "The Society for the Promotion of Jewish Education" are tax-deductible. For more information, contact Bracha Steinberg of the public relations department at Horeb Schools in Jerusalem, POB 16072 Jerusalem 91160. Phone +972 2 642 1488. Fax +972 2 643 6949.
