To give when you love: The 2012 EZRA memorial charity bazaars

Every year, the graduating group at the Ramot (Jerusalem) branch of the Israeli youth organization EZRA holds a charity bazaar in memory of Malki Roth and Michal Raziel Z"L, and in support of Keren Malki. This year marked the eleventh anniversary of the Sbarro massacre in the heart of Jerusalem.

Under the name Latet K'she'ata Ohev (Hebrew for "To give when you love"), this upbeat annual event attracts families from all over Jerusalem, and especially from the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramot where many personally knew the girls.

With their large attendance and great spirit, the EZRA bazaars commemorates Malki's and Michal's legacy of giving and helping others -- and are always great fun. [Reports and pictures from previous annual bazaars: 2011; 2010; 2007; 2006; 2005; 2004]

Michal and Malki grew up in Ramot and were active in EZRA, both becoming group leaders at the age of fifteen. Their friends initiated the tradition of the bazaar in 2002, with all proceeds going to worthy causes. Malki was a youth leader (a madricha) in the Maale Adumim branch, and a charity bazaar was organized by the graduating youngsters of that branch too at the same time.

The two bazaars featured vendor booths, arts and crafts stands, street shows and professional performers (who typically volunteer their time for the event).
